Discover El Clot Park in Barcelona
A Testament to a Working-Class Past
Built on land once occupied by the old Renfe workshops, Parc del Clot opened in 1986 and immediately became a neighbourhood focal point. Just like two other parks, Espanya Industrial and Pegaso, this park lies on land once occupied by old factories and industrial sites that fell into disuse. In this case the designers, Daniel Freixes and Vincent Miranda, opted to maintain some vestiges of that industrial past, such as the chimney stacks and arches that had formed part of the previous site and are now integrated into the park complex.
Places for Recreation, Sport and Art
Parc del Clot is a great place for those who love outdoor activities and sports. There are numerous sports and recreational facilities in the park, including football, pétanque and pelota courts, basketball baskets, a kids’ recreation area and a place for dogs. There is also a Green Point for recycling and a municipal sports centre.
A Mediterranean Oasis
The vegetation in El Clot Park is mainly Mediterranean and includes a large variety of trees. There are a lot of grassy areas too with fountains and ornamental sculptures. The park is a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors, and there are plenty of benches and tables for visitors to sit and have a picnic.
